Fionnuala O’Hare

BA(Hons), LicAcupTCM, ACHI, Dip in Shiatsu-Do

Fionnuala is a qualified and experienced practitioner and runs a general practice for acupuncture in Sligo. She treats adults, children and infants. She provides health support at all stages of life. Her interest is in promoting well-being and facilitating not just the alleviation of pain and disease, but also the promotion of good health and the development of personal potential. Fionnuala combines her busy clinical practice with teaching Iyengar yoga.

Fionnuala has been practising Shiatsu, Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for over twenty years having trained at the College of Integrative Acupuncture in Galway, and at Zhejiang College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in China and the Acupuncture Foundation of Ireland (AFI) in Dublin. She trained in Shiatsu at the British School of Shiatsu-Do in London and was a senior tutor there for many years. She is a member of the Acupuncture Council of Ireland, the Association of Chinese Herbalists in Ireland.

Fionnuala specialises in treating women’s health-related issues. Acupuncture is the treatment of choice for women to help regulate the menstrual cycle and alleviate menstrual pain, and to deal with the difficult symptoms during menopause, including hot flushes and insomnia. Recent research indicates that regular acupuncture treatment enhances positive fertility outcomes. Fertility clinics recommend acupuncture during fertility cycles and Fionnuala sees both women and men during this time.

Fionnuala also specialises in treating back pain, neck and shoulder pain and other joint problems, frequently finding that these chronic conditions respond very well to acupuncture.
